Prior to Buffy, Boreanaz guest starred on Married... With Children and Men Don't Lie, as well as has appeared in several films, including Best of the Best II and Aspen Extreme. As with all actors, he's also been seen parking cars at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, handing out towels at a gym, and doing commercials from time to time.

Angel, first appeared in the first episode of Buffy as sort of a "cryptic wiseman", as Buffy put it. Incredibly handsome, Angel came from Europe, and is nearly 240 years old. He was created
by Darla early in the 18th century, and together they would go on massive killing sprees. The last person he killed was a young gypsy girl, Buffy’s age. Her family put a curse on him and brought back his soul. Now here in America, heartbroken over what he was and still is, he has not fed on a human being since he regained his soul. He lives on bags of blood which he keeps in a refridgerator. He no longer lived under ground and keeps his distance from the other vampires. In America he meets Buffy and falls in love with her. It is not until later that Buffy discovers the true nature of Angel. He is a vampire and she is the slayer. She is destined to kill him but Buffy returns Angel’s love with her own. A few passionate kisses and sentimental moments have been shared between the two but they both know that a relationship between them is hopeless..or is it?
